The BE Attitudes

I've always wondered where the term "Beatitudes" came from since it's not mentioned in the Bible per se. I got to learn that the word has a Latin origin, "Beatus" which translates to "Be happy".

By the way, did I mention that The Beatitudes is one of my favourite Bible Teachings ever and did I mention that I love to remix Bible verses maintaining the pure undiluted message but creatively setting up my version.? Call it The Oyez version if you wish :D

Now to the Beatitudes, the BE-ATTITUDES, the ATTITUDES we must BEhave, BEcome & BElieve for us to BE.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
- BE humble so you can BElong to God's kingdom.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
- BE happy, don't worry, you'll BE heard.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
- BE gentle, the earth BElongs to you.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
- BE willing to do what's right always, you'll BE satisfied/contended.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
- BE merciful, you'll BE BEstowed with mercy

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
- BE of a clean heart, you'll get to see GOD's real BEing

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
 - It BEhoves you to love peace, you'll BE called GOD's BEgotten.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
-BE patient during persecutions, God's kingdom BElongs to you.

Hope you enjoyed my version of the Beatitudes culled from Matthew 5: 3 - 12. I'll be sharing more of my versions of other interesting Bible passages as time goes on, be sure to get more updates. There's fun in God's word, right?

Oyez! & Tha BeLivaz - The Live Band

And so it all started like a joke. I jokingly posted on my Facebook page that I wanna start up a live music band.
I've always like the Black Eyed Peas and their ability to perform their style of Hip Hop (or funk as you might call it) in a life performance. Lately, I've been attending monthly editions of #Club23 powered by the Gospel According 2 Rap (GA2Rap) crew and I really fancy the way they do their rap songs with a live band. That really adds quality to the music, gives them an edge.
So as I was saying, I jokingly said on Facebook that I would love to start up a live band and asked for anyone interested to enrol to join. I got some good responses but the best one came via chat from my long time childhood friend Japhet. Japhet has a band actually.
He gave me Osagie's (a drummer) number and said he'll speak with him on my behalf. To cut the long story short, I had a couple of meetings with Osagie and two other instrumentalists - Eno (keyboardist) and Emmanuel ( bass guitarist). Rehearsals space became a challenge but Emmanuel fixed that in no time.God used him to provide a venue.
Now that instrumentalists and rehearsal venue was fixed, I had to source for backup vocalists. I'll tell y'all more about the vocalists next time :D.

We had our first rehearsal on Wednesday, 7th of March 2012 and I got a few photos to share.

So that's it folks. We need your support and we guarantee classic music. Stay tuned and God bless!

Good Excuse or Bad Decision?

When a girl wants to just hang out with you but wants nothing close to dating you, her best line of excuse would most likely be "Hey, I like you as my friend, I see you as a brother but that's all, I want nothing more. I think we should be just friends".
Right?
Brothers, can I have a witness?
Sisters, don't you think you've over-used this excuse already?
But come to think about it, as defensive and considerable as this "turn-off" sounds, it is actually the worst most immature and unthinkable decision. Any lady that uses those lines as a guard when she doesn't want to go into a relationship should be given hard-knocks for eloquently telling the world how much of a terrible decision maker she is.
Yea, you may think I'm talking from a sad experience. You are not far from the truth. It wasn't a sad experience because I was turned-down, it's only sad because I expected her to be smart enough to know that her choice for a boyfriend (or future-husband as the case may be) should be her best male friend.
We all know the bond best friends have. They naturally stick together, look out for each other. They laugh at each other's dry jokes. They defend and protect each other. They confide in each other. They are like family. Now shouldn't that be a perfect choice for a lady?
This isn't rocket home-economics. It's just common sense. If a lady needs a boyfriend and she's been asked out by a guy she calls "close friend", I think she should just go ahead and say "Yes" after all, she is already comfortable with the guy, they probably have the same tastes, likes and dislikes from them to have been friends.
Ladies, it's a good sign if you see a man as your brother, that's a better reason to want to date him. It means you can look up to him for protection, support and advice. Right?
Well, I admit she has her reasons and decision to make. However, it is an unreasonable to say, "I only want you as my best friend, not my lover". That's like saying, "You are too good for me. I don't want the best things in life. I want a guy who isn't my best friend, who doesn't like what I like, who doesn't think like I do. I want a little drama in my life, not some perfect relationship like best friends share"
How terrible!

Oyez! - The Electronic Press Kit (EPK)

Oyezechukwu Oyez! Emmanuel is a Nigerian entertainer-songwriter based in Lagos. He occasionally does poetry, comedy and shares his random thought on life issues from a humorous point of view on his blog.
He's a computer scientist and entrepreneur into web-designing and mobile-marketing

About the Artist
Born February, 1986 to a Christian family, Oyez started with turning Bible verses into Rhyming Recitations back then in the Children’s Church. He did this for quite a number of years as a teen, featuring on stage as a prodigy MC in Church events.
He recorded his first EP titled “The M.U.S.I.C” in 2006 which gained the admiration of contemporary gospel music lovers, making Oyez a name to watch out for.

About his Music
To Oyez, Music should be spelt as M.U.S.I.C to serve as an acronym for “Me-yoU-Sing-In-Christ”. In his words, “All music should be Gospel. We can sing about anything but we have to do it the right way. We can sing about love, sex, party and fun but it has to be the right kind of Love (not lust), Sex (not immorality), Party (not drunken orgies) and decent fun, you feel me?”

Oyez's style of Gospel Music ranges cuts across a number of musical genres like Rap, Soul, Pop, Rock and everything-in-between.
